Saskatoon Soaring Club - Our Rates

Associate Membership:

An Associate Membership provides a one day membership, and includes an introductory familiarization (FAM) flight with an instructor or qualified pilot.  An aerotow takes the glider to 2,500 feet above the ground and the flight lasts about 20 minutes.  Longer flights that include soaring may be arranged depending on weather conditions and availability of aircraft and pilots.  If the winch is set up, a shorter but cheaper flight is available by winch launch.

A special Six Pack form of associate membership is available to those interested in taking some instruction before making a full membership decision.  The first flight is a regular introductory flight.  During the next five flights the prospective member learns the flight controls and flies the aircraft with the instructor.  The flights can be taken on more than one day.

A Ground Support membership is now available for those who want to be part of the ground crew but do not want to fly.

If you are interested in coming out for an introductory ride or just want to check out the club you are welcome to come out to Cudworth airport.  Click on this SSC Flying Schedule link and put your name and phone number down on the date (and approximate time during the day) that you'd like to come.  Someone may try to get hold of you to confirm things.  We do keep the schedule updated regularly to indicate if there's any cancellation due to poor weather or any other reason (i. e. always best to make a last-minute check of the spreadsheet before heading out to Cudworth).

Regular Membership:

An annual Regular Membership is required to fly each season. The club has a one-time joining fee of $100.00 for a Regular Membership. This represents the member's share of fixed club costs such as equipment, facilities, and administrative expenses. A Regular Membership grants voting privileges once the joining fee is paid. Additionally, an Annual Membership with the Soaring Association of Canada (SAC) is necessary.

If a Regular Membership is purchased after August 1, both the Regular Membership fees and SAC fees will be halved.

A Regular Monthly Membership is also available for previous members. This Membership is valid for 30 consecutive days but also requires an annual SAC membership.

Note: The Monthly Membership can only be purchased once per season. Launch costs vary according to launch method and release altitude. For an aerotow their is a minimum fee which includes the first 1,000 feet above ground, plus an additional fee per 100 feet. A winch launch has a fixed fee per launch.
